My name is Len Bodack and I am the endorsed Democrat for state representative in the 21st district. I've been knocking on doors and talking with people about their concerns and ideas for state government. My experience as a council member in Pittsburgh has prepared me to work at the state level. My priority was to listen to residents and address their concerns and they told me... "quality of life is our number one issue and crime is the greatest threat."

Since then, I've worked closely with federal and local law enforcement, secured additional police, busted drugs, padlocked nuisance bars and closed drug houses. I put video cameras in high crime areas to reduce criminal activity and started an anti-crime program that won national acclaim. I started a private-public partnership to save a neighborhood swimming pool and provide recreation for children.

I've worked on community development, the reconstruction of Penn Avenue and got funds to tear down dilapidated housing and reduce blight. I sponsored and passed bills to protect residents from nuisance properties, require the registration of rental units, and hold landlords accountable to their tenants. I sponsored and passed bills to eliminate methadone clinics in residential areas and stop aggressive panhandling on city streets.

As a lifelong resident, I did these things because they were important to my community. My wife Sharon and I are teaching our four children the values we learned here, respect for our neighbors and the belief that we are all in this together. As your legislator, I promise to listen to your concerns and be your voice in Harrisburg.
